We were asked to observe our classmates examples of their cultural products on their topic and I can honestly say, the world is so ignorant and so biased that if we do not change it, we are heading to a path of destruction..
When presented with social issues that matter to us, the public tends to be biased about the issues and add their opinion to the issues instead of real facts... Instead of presenting real facts and truth, the public has the tendency to twist things around and make fun of the topic, instead of educating those about the topic.. Then, when they do present the topic, they create memes or comics about it, so how can one take the social issue seriously, if the public doesn't even take it seriously?
People have to realize society will take heed and action to the problem if we are serious about it.. Sure, memes can be created, but if we are just going to be rude and biased to the situation, what good does that do for society?
The perspectives that should be presented in memes or videos or t shirts is sociological ones. The ones that actually have research and have the facts to support the claim or the issues. Nobody didn't say that memes, slogans or t-shirts couldn't be created, but if you're trying to educate others on a topic through products, then please throw some sociology in it or just at least have research to back up the claim, because if you don't and all you do is just add your opinions to it, its biased and nobody's going to take heed to the problem. One might actually laugh about the situation and that is by the far the last thing that we need right now....
I just had to let it be known that the longer that we don't take heed to the problem, the longer we will have people not wanting to care about the situation which will be bad for society... Let me know your thoughts about memes and how sociology plays a part in educating those about issues....
