Final Blog...

Guys, it has come to our last blog post together... So, lets all try to get a few wisdom in our brains...  Yes, it's important for social scientists to find ways to connect with public audience. It's important for social scientists to find ways to connect with public audience because the public needs to be aware on a lot of social issues! For example, when the topic is about civil rights and about black people earning the same equal rights as whites and let me tell you people can be so ignorant about this topic... Most people believe that black people should not receive the same equal rights as white and will tend to make memes about black people not doing anything for themselves... See, this is where the social scientist can step in and provide the public information and facts about the reasoning behind "black people not doing anything" If the public was more aware about the topic, the public would want to help instead of criticizing....

Social scientists should make the social research accessible and relevant to the public discourse because technology is advancing! Nobody is going to listen to the news anymore. People would rather turn to Facebook or Twitter faster and would help out quicker than hearing it from the news.... It's important for social scientists to practice public sociology in terms of their research questions and designs because it would have the research more credible and would have people more interested in the topic...The research topic could be about abortion and the design could be having a open ended interview where the interviewee could express themselves about the topic instead of answering questions back to back(SOOO BORINGG) and a person wouldn't  be able to put themselves in the other person's shoes, which is important! If you want somebody to care about the topic that you are presenting or you care about the most, you definitely want to make it seem personal, credible and eye- opening!

This class (Sociology 475) was very useful to me in many ways.First, it had allowed me to research about a topic that is near and dear to my heart (poverty). Second, it had allowed me to educate others(like what I'm doing right now) about poverty and the seriousness about it if nothing is being done to at least reduce poverty. Lastly, it taught me the importance of public sociology and how if we(society) do not educate others or let others know about the things that is going on in the world, then the world would continuing to deteriorate and the future generations would have to suffer because of the lack of knowledge that society does not have....
Thanks for reading, I hope you learned something and want to take action.

Observations on Cultural products....

We were asked to observe our classmates examples of their cultural products on their topic and I can honestly say, the world is so ignorant and so biased that if we do not change it, we are heading to a path of destruction..
When presented with social issues that matter to us, the public tends to be biased about the issues and add their opinion to the issues instead of real facts... Instead of presenting real facts and truth, the public has the tendency to twist things around and make fun of the topic, instead of educating those about the topic.. Then, when they do present the topic, they create memes or comics about it, so how can one take the social issue seriously, if the public doesn't even take it seriously?
People have to realize society will take heed and action to the problem if we are serious about it.. Sure, memes can be created, but if we are just going to be rude and biased to the situation, what good does that do for society?
The perspectives that should be presented in memes or videos or t shirts is sociological ones. The ones that actually have research and have the facts to support the claim or the issues. Nobody didn't say that memes, slogans or t-shirts couldn't be created, but if you're trying to educate others on a topic through products, then please throw some sociology in it or just at least have research to back up the claim, because if you don't and all you do is just add your opinions to it, its biased and nobody's going to take heed to the problem. One might actually laugh about the situation and that is by the far the last thing that we need right now....

I just had to let it be known that the longer that we don't take heed to the problem, the longer we will have people not wanting to care about the situation which will be bad for society... Let me know your thoughts about memes and how sociology plays a part in educating those about issues....
